Demonic interference is often at the root of spiritual bondage problems. Learn about Spiritual Warfare and use the Deliverance Prayer that is included.

Just as in the Days of Jesus Christ, much disease of body, mind and spirit can be caused by demonic interference, according to The Spiritual Warrior’s Prayer Guide, in which authors Quinn Sherrer & Ruthanne Garlock give valuable information for healing this difficult addiction.

Triumphing Over the Evil Spirits of Sex Addiction

The fact that people are ignorant of the existence of spirits renders them vulnerable. Often people fall into pornography or sex addiction because they are under demonic attack. Those working in the "front line" of the Church are very vulnerable to such attacks, but they can - and do - affect anyone in society.

How Sexual Bondage Comes About

Sexual bondage is caused by a supernatural attachment in the spiritual body which can happen through unwise sexual contact or interest. such as using internet sex sites. Quoting Tom White of Frontline Ministries, experts in Spiritual Deliverance, Sherrer & Garlock write:

"A place used for prostitution may invite demons of bondage, deception, violence, lust, sexual perversion or familiar spirits of the occult. Even when the perpetrators have left the scene, evil spirits may linger, hoping to prey on unsuspecting newcomers."

The Armour of God Protects from Demonic Sex Attacks

Fortunately, there are ways of being delivered from such bondage. First you need to get into the right relationship with God. Sherrer & Garlock suggest that people need to "wear the armour of God" by adhering to the following principles:

  • Truth – don’t believe the lies of Satan (or tell them)
  • Righteousness – get right with God by asking for his forgiveness and help
  • Peace – ask for God's peace
  • Faith – believe that God can help if He is asked in Jesus’s name
  • Salvation – believe that God died on the cross and already took humanity's sins
  • Invite The Holy Spirit in – this is God’s love that wants to help humanity, eternally.

Healing a Demonic Sex Attachment

Healing a sex or porn addiction does takes some effort and may not be instantaneous. However demonic spirits are not as strong as the Holy Spirit. He is the"big friend" that can be counted on in a crisis. Here are some more suggestions:

Intercession for Healing of Sex & Porn Addiction - Find a church that does intercessory prayer groups or one to one work. If this isn't possible, then try phoning a prayer line for help.

Get right with God by putting on his Armor – this means confessing and repenting of the addicted state and asking God, with faith, to help. Believe that the Blood of Christ has the power to cleanse and heal. Ask the Holy Spirit for protection and healing.

Removing Sexual Temptations - complete abstinence is essential so have no reminders of the problem in view or easy reach. Fill the home with spiritual icons instead - the crucifix and pictures of Jesus create a powerful protection.

Get a Bible and read it for at least 30 minutes a day. At night cover it in a pillow slip and sleep with it wherever you feel you need help the most. The demons will slowly release their hold over your body.

Living a Healthy Spiritualized Life

Getting right with God is essential: Sherrer & Garlock recommend that attending a sympathetic church regularly can help build a relationship to the Godhead. Jesus isn’t a fictional being – many people (like Ian McCormack) have encountered Jesus face to face and their lives have been changed instantly.

A Deliverance Prayer for those Under Demonic Attack

This is a shortened version of the prayer suggested in The Spiritual Warrior’s Prayer Guide. It should be used very frequently until the spirits let go their grip.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name I ask you to protect me from the evil one. Please reveal to me any areas of my life where I have given access to the evil one. Grant me the wisdom and the weapons to repel his attacks. Please release me from any harmful covenants entered into knowingly or unknowingly. Thank you for your Holy Spirit and for the Blood of Christ that cleanses and protects. Thank you that I can overcome through Jesus’ blood and your Holy Word.

Amen, Amen, Amen.
